That's what I meant by taking it slow, not having them work as usual, but not necessarily have them stay in bed all the way to imunity. You just need to monitor the disease and immunity progresses, and if all is going well, you can have them do a couple of things if you really need some kind of work. Of course, if you want to guarantee their survival, staying in bed is the best to do. You're right about that too, I guess I was thinking about smaller fires, but it's definitely not enough for bigger ones. I wasn't aware of the change to the "Zzzzt" event. That's why I didn't say it was the most important. I mean, it spends less resources and never gives you food poisoning. I do think cooking is important, but imo nutrient paste gets around it. I talked about it on the pod crash event, but I should have made it clearer when it comes to capturing. You're right, I didn't mention it in the capturing part. The afflicted person needs to be on bed rest until they're better, otherwise their immunity won't build fast enough, and they will die, regardless of medical treatment. 'Take it slow' isn't enough for most diseases or infection. If it's a room in the depths of a mountain, you might have to remove multiple walls if this is the case, start from the outside and work your way inward toward the burning room, otherwise you'll overheat the rest of the complex and make matters so much worse. Better to have someone knock down a wall or door leading to the outside. With a fire that breaks out in a room, opening a door won't be enough to avoid the inferno. It probably won't be as severe, but it can still cause problems, especially if it's in the wrong place (say, a bit too close to a pile of chemfuel) or the wrong time (you know, during a raid where you can't spare someone to go put out the fire that suddenly started in your food stockpile). You can still have a short anywhere along your powerlines. Not having batteries no longer avoids the 'Zzzzt' event. That's not to mention the constant mood hit from being sick, vomit everywhere that not only has to be cleaned but risks causing more food poisoning in other people, and the increased hunger, meaning they'll eat more, which means it could just keep chaining along in constant misery. In addition, if their health is bad enough, the consciousness hit from severe food poisoning can actually kill a pawn. That's bad enough on a multi-person colony where you'll have to spare someone to feed and tend to them, but if you're a solo explorer, it's guaranteed death, because there's nobody to rescue and feed them. If it stacks with other ailments (say, a disease, wounds, or bad scarring), then that person will end up passing out, and have to be left in bed until they recover. Food poisoning reduces a pawn's ability to function, their movement and manipulation among other things. A low-skill chef will give people food poisoning. Pirates are a forced 100% hostility, meaning you can never be friendly with them.Ĭooking is more important than you think, actually. This will give you a boost to your reputation with the faction that person belongs to, as long as it's not pirates - once you're high enough, that faction will never raid you again, unless you piss them off. Even if you don't recruit a prisoner, you can capture them, heal them enough that they're no longer incapable of walking, and release them. When raiders are downed and not killed, you can capture them for recruitment purposes.
